In fact, most rural folk tend to be traditionalists, and aren't too much into socialism. Strike one.

If we're being robbed by anyone, it's socialist-minded city folk who expect us to produce their food at a no profit to ourselves, "distributing the wealth" through quota purchase - which can be up to $10 000 per animal. I'd like to go dairy, but frankly, I can't afford the quota unless I took out a second mortgage on my farm. Those same friendly left-wing urban intellectuals then proceed to appease their consciences by giving us "rural development packages" that amount to substantially less than our production costs, and even then, only when some natural disaster has befallen us. Most of us have two jobs in order to keep our farms. Last time I checked, Her Majesty demanded nothing of me but an oath of allegiance. Strike two.

Speaking of poor track records, why don't we take a look at socialism. There isn't one example of a country where socialism has worked. Not a single one. They all end up in economic ruin and anarchy. They all end up with dictatorial governments that have to use force to stay in power. The concept itself is flawed and it invariably leads to economic stagnation. Look at it logically: Why would someone go to the trouble of starting a business, putting in the long hours to build it, only to have profits regulated by the government through taxes so that he makes the same salary as someone pushing a broom for seven hours a day in a government office complex? The harder he works, the more money the government takes. No matter how hard I work, I'll never make more than the guy pushing a broom in the government office complex, so why bother? I think I'll just go get a job washing cars for the Ministry of Transport. The economy ends up being artificially propped up by the government, and everybody is equally poor. Like it or not, capitalism is the lesser of the evils. Strike three, you're out.

On an unrelated note, I do rather like Calico Jack Rackham's Jolly Roger. And if we did some recruiting among those in favour of RCN, I'm sure we could get a few people with boarding party experience. Then we just need a few captains, RHIBs, caving ladders, and we're set. Personally, I'd like to have something more than a cutlass for weaponry - something more along the lines of the MP5N and SIG-Sauer P-225. Which of course, we could manage, if we had Letters of Marque, and were more privateers than pirates, as Greg suggested. I wonder if it's still in Her Majesty's prerogative to grant Letters of Marque?AngloFarmernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8162816964941896969.post-52779161282552512642011-04-06T08:05:06.966+01:002011-04-06T08:05:06.966+01:00The editor decides who is on the scribe team. Although I'm just a reader of this blog, I'm pretty sure no one here aims for simultaneously starving workers and getting fat.

You would do well to expose yourself to arguments and viewpoints other than those you personally find favourable, because your post will offend no one here. Perhaps you've been told, or you've read, that monarchists are evil elitists who want to oppress everyone, but it just isn't true. The real power-grabbing political elite nowadays would gladly see the monarchy abolished and the nation-state completely eroded, and are currently in the process of doing both, to our resentment...Npinkpantherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02356300503647396779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8162816964941896969.post-54278245193797156152011-04-03T02:02:53.703+01:002011-04-03T02:02:53.703+01:00you people make me sick. you want to oppress the w...you people make me sick. you want to oppress the working people everywhere and take all the power away from the workers and farmers while you sit in your houses and get fat. only when the workers get what they want will this world trully be free. right now you and the elites are destroying this worlds people, the planet, and life itselg.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8162816964941896969.post-9950294428254273222011-04-02T12:33:04.430+01:002011-04-02T12:33:04.430+01:00Hope you all had a happy April Fools' Day.
