  1. I have just returned from a business trip to Hong Kong and China...while I was there I met a very interesting lady from London England. After a few pints of Guiness, we got talking about her home, England and how her husband was in the Army many years ago. She started talking about medals her husband had been awarded, and in the conversation she brought up the Royal Victorian Order, which kind of caught me by surprise, as I had remebered as a child my grandfather talking about it to me once. I immediately called home to Canada to speak to my Grandmother, and asked her what medals my Grandfather had from his army days? To my surprise, actually, and more appropriately, to my amazement, she told me that my grandfather had been the leader or one of the leaders?? of the kings troop, and on the very day that King George was buried in Feb. of 1952, he was the leader of the King's Troop. Upon my arrival last week I asked her to see the medal and all the paperwork that was give to him on March 18th, 1952. Thuis was the day he was awarded his Royal Victorian Medal (Silver) by the Queen herself. Looking at all of it, including pictures of the day, it gave me goose bumps. Not knowing this while he was alive, saddens me not knowing more about it. He unfortunitely passed away about 1 1/2 yrs ago now, and with no real mention of this to me while he was alive, has really peaked my interest.

So if there is any books or websites that someone could be recommended, I would be very greatful!!!
