Accession Proclamation, 1952 (Canada)
Canada was the first realm to proclaim Her Majesty as Queen 60 years ago today
I have always loved the language of that proclamation. I would hope that they maintain the same form for the next one, long may that be in the future.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this has anything to do with the fact that this happened just one day after Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee, but I thought I would bring this to the attention of this blog: the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, Donald Ethell, has restored use of the Windsor Uniform for ceremonial occasions in Alberta. See the following link with a photograph: http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2012/02/08/jesse-kline-albertans-should-prepare-for-higher-taxes/
ReplyDeleteThat is excellent news about the revival of the Windsor uniform in Alberta. I wonder how one could work to encourage other viceregals to follow his example?
ReplyDeleteInteresting they refer to her as Queen of Ireland even though Ireland abolish the monarchy in 1948.
