Her Majesty Surpasses Francis Joseph

Today Her Britannic Majesty has lived for 86 years, 3 months, and 4 days. This amounts to a total of 31,508 days – today and date of birth included.

His Imperial and Royal Majesty Francis Joseph of Austria-Hungary holds the European record of longest reign, counting only kingdoms and empires, without a minority regency. His reign lasted impressively 11 days short of 68 years. He celebrated his Diamond Jubilee in 1908. He lived for 86 years, 3 months, and 3 days. This amounts to a total of 31,507 days – dates of birth and passing included.

Her Britannic Majesty has surpassed in age the Emperor-King Francis Joseph of Austria-Hungary, the longest reigning Emperor, King, or female equivalent without a minority regency in recorded European history.

Her Britannic Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

  1. All British and European records might be smashed with this Queen, though it will be difficult to surpass the Sun King.

  2. Let us not forget, sir, that the Sun King came to the throne when he was only five years old. The present Britannic monarch will be ten years older than the Sun King was at his passing at her next birthday.

On this list there are even European records beyond the Sun King's, but they do not belong to kingdoms or empires.

The longest reigning European monarch of recorded history without a minority regency is Johannes II of Liechtenstein, I believe. His reign was about two years shorter than that of the Sun King.
